Lots of people did not like the King who was James 1. Robert Catesby was the leader of the Catesby conspirators.His friends liked and trusted him and so when he told them of his plan they wanted to help him.Robert’s plan was to put gunpowder in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament and set light to it next time was there. . Guy Fawkes was one of the plotters and he Guy Fawkes was chosen to set light to the gunpowder.The conspirators put the gunpowder into barrels and then hid the barrels in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament. Guy Fawkes was sent to the cellar the Guy Fawkes night before King James 1 was due to visit.What he did not know was that someone had told the King that there was a plan to kill him. The year was 1605 and Catholics were hoping that the new King James I was somewhat more sympathetic to the Catholics (who were basically left to live in peace). But seeing as the new monarch remained the same course decided to take on this.
A small group of hotheads planned lead 35 barrels of gunpowder in the cellars of the parliament in London to fly when the King was inside. But someone gave the tip. When the authorities came down to the cellar, they found a guy called Guy Fawkes with 35 barrels of gunpowder. He was arrested, tortured him and killed him.
To commemorate the day the King was saved from a conspiracy, since fires are made in England in which burned an effigy representing Guy Fawkes and shoot rockets into memory. 401 years still burning in countless bonfires throughout the country. That are beautiful traditions.
